My ex-husband wasn't one and didn't understand my hesitation to celebrate holidays. The current one is very understanding, but can't *really* comprehend the full force effect of it, but he tries. He lets me take my own time to heal.

our oldest son who is married and out of the house, became friends with another guy about his age.. son's friend lived in a house that was owned by his parents, who lived next door.
friend's dad lost his job and got another job several states away where he would be for three years.. friend suggested that parents rent their home to our son, since they were such good friends.
parents said ok, would rent the place for the price of their house payment, would leave all utilities in their name so neither our son or them would have to pay deposits and fees.son pays all bills and rent on time.
"Everything in writing" applies to *both* sides, my dear. <smiles weakly>
If there is no written contract, it would seem that your son is not required to honor "anything" since there is no contract to honor. Sure, there is vocal agreement, and your son paying the rent and utilities on time.. but really, there is no contract stating the conditions for moving out, paying deposit, how many days' notice, or anything like that. I am not a lawyer, of course, but it seems if she can dishonor their verbal agreement, he can dishonor it, too.

i would willingly give my life to save my child.
i'm sure that would be the same answer for most parents, but how about those people without kids?
For me, it's a natural thing: my son. But then I got to thinking: what else would I give up my life for? Would I so bravely, or naiively as the case may be, give up my life for my country? I thought about all those people in the years before me. Was this a question that they pondered over and fought with themselves about? What did it take for them to go forth and give their lives for their country? I concluded that, yes, although I would be afraid, as they might have been, I'd probably serve my country knowing I might perish.
And it would be willingly.

this weekend is the annual greek food festival, sponsored by our local greek orthodox church, and for the first time i'm going!!!
mom, who is greek, and dad never let me go because to participate would be giving money to bad old babylon the great, and i followed that stupid rule after i got married too.
well, no more -- we're going to the food festival!.
Nina:
You will regret NOT going. I have been to lots of Greek Orthodox stuff and it's so fun that I can't find a way to explain it. Your family will be enriched to know that they come from such a rich heritage. Our heritage is rich with music, dance, and food. What a wonderful way to celebrate life! If you go, you will have so much fun. The Greek people are so hospitable and warm, and welcoming and friendly. What better way to be happy than to dance, laugh, eat and socialize. We are social animals, and we shoudl engage in that as much as possible!
Have fun!

everyone has a very emotional and special moment in their life that they will always remember.
for me, it was when i held my son in my arms for the first time, looked into his beautiful brown eyes, and fell in love for the rest of my life.
that's the "good stuff.

i started going to church.
i am going to a baptist church just because they have a great youth program at this one, and my daughter (12) has really gotten into it, which i think is a positive thing.
i have never really taught her anything about religion because i never knew what i believed, and i am having to confront now, what exactly it is that i do believe.
Hi there.
We are all confused, except the atheists. They don't believe in any God, and their perception is pretty cut and dried. You will find if you believe in God, that it's confusing what to believe. The one constant thing that christians can present is that once they confess that they believe in Christ as the Savior, then that is all it takes. And nothing can upset that belief once you confess and believe it in your heart. Like we all have heard a million times "god knows your heart." There is NO religion or belief that has everything right, but if you love Christ and want to follow him, everything will proceed just fine.
